I have been with State Farm for apartment, now house and car for twenty years. I have heard good and bad comments about most all of them over the years. The most important thing is to get proper insurance. Make sure you have sufficient coverage to cover all of your belongings in your apartment. On your car have uninsured motorists insurance, and have the added coverage that it is covered as your coverage covers. Both of these cost very little more. Uninsured motorist is becoming more necessary over time, depending where you live, the influx of illegal aliens has made this a bigger problem. Hope this helps.

Stay away from State Farm! The house I grew up in had been in the family for generations and had been insured by State Farm for fifty years when a pipe burst and flooded our house in December 2001. The company they hired was awful and left our house a tore up mess for eight weeks! The company THEY HIRED did the repair incorrectly and two weeks after they finished it happened again. State Farm then REFUSED to cover the house any more because there were two claims on it, even though the second claim was from the incompetance of a company THEY HIRED. I could not believe it! After fifty years of my family giving them business, they totally bailed on us! In treating us badly they also lost the business of the rest of my family who had other houses insured with them.
My sister has Countryside and has always been happy with her agent and the service from the company. She has house, car, and life insurance with them.

Progressive would be the best to get a quote from. They will even tell you if you can get a better deal somewhere else.

You will likely find good and bad opinions on almost any insurance company.
